The Role of Temperature Regime in the Generative Stages of Organogenesis in Sugar Beet
Abstract
The paper synthesizes published evidence on the role of temperature in the transition of sugar beet from vegetative to reproductive development. Particular attention is given to the duration and intensity of cold exposure, the interaction between vernalization and photoperiod, and the genetic regulation of flowering. The importance of assessing thermal conditions during mother-root cultivation and storage is discussed in relation to timely reproductive development and seed production. The paper is a literature-based analysis and does not report original field-trial results.
