Abstract
The paper addresses professional burnout among personnel of penitentiary institutions under conditions of chronic occupational stress. It identifies organizational and psychological risk factors and examines approaches to staff selection, training and support. Prevention is considered a responsibility of institutional management as well as individual employees.
