Анотація

This report examines the retreat of glaciers in the Alps, driven by rising temperatures, and the potential impact of this process on Europe’s water resources. It highlights the role of the Alps as a vital catchment area that feeds several major rivers. The study analyzes seasonal fluctuations in river flow and identifies the risks these changes pose to the hydropower, agricultural, and tourism sectors. Citing data from the 2024 European Climate Report, the document notes that Alpine glaciers continue to lose mass.Ultimately, glacier monitoring and the rational management of water resources are of critical importance for European countries that are in the process of adapting to climate change.
